Social Justice
Overview
At the heart of the NMRW mission lies the commitment to facilitate an understanding of the constitutional rights nationally.
With our Social Justice information workshop
initiatives, we strive to empower women and communities, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to effectively navigate the socio-political landscape and
advocate for their rights.
The topics expanded on are in Maintenance as a right, Witchcraft, Land Rights and Climate Change and Education.
How the Social Justice department carries out its work:
While there are several human rights concerns that should be understood within constitutional context, the Social Justice Department ensures a thorough understanding by scrutinising selected topics. The areas of human rights explored by the Social Justice department, resonates with NMRW’s founding emphasis on the social, political, and economic well-being of women and rural communities. They also align with policies introduced by government as part of law reform, for engaging in parliamentary discussions and outcomes.
The Social Justice department hosts educational workshops to raise awareness on these rights and policies and address questions and concerns of communities. Alongside ongoing research papers, the department has produced easy- to - read educational pamphlets on each topic which are distributed during workshops hosted by the department.

By addressing fundamental human right issues, the NMRW strives to support vulnerable groups to have access to fair and equal opportunities & participation. The Social Justice department challenges discriminatory practices and advocates for gender – equitable rights, recognising the importance of economic empowerment, social and political standing of women. In advocating for the elimination of harmful practices, the department endeavours to ensure the well – being and protection of rural women and communities against violence and discrimination.
The desired outcome for these workshop efforts is to provide recourse for the challenges encountered by the affected persons and communities. The Social
Justice department aims to support rural women and communities in asserting their constitutional rights, overcoming barriers, and leading lives of dignity and equality.
