Khutsalani Mushrooms
Khutsalani Mushrooms is situated in the Sabelweni region under the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality. Located in a village called Swallowsnest, the project began in February 2012 as a garden but later changed its activity to mushroom production. The project has 8 female members and was identified by the NMRW in April 2015. The project members were trained by a former agriculture officer who had the love for mushrooms and that’s when the members decided to concentrate on planting mushrooms. In 2017, after their incubation period, the NMRW assisted the project with mushroom spawns and the building of a 2-room structure to cultivate mushrooms.
